Anxiety as a Motivator
Article 12 Articles 1
The “Morning Anxiety” tutorial touches on this issue. Some of us awaken feeling exhausted, depressed, resistant to going to work, etc., and if we don’t make ourselves feel anxious about something (like losing our job if we’re late to the office), we’d never get out of bed!
Remember, anxiety is the surrogate emotion that steps in to take the place of feelings we either don't want to acknowledge or feel, or think we shouldn't. It might be that you awaken with a little depression~ but if that's become a 'forbidden emotion' during the course of your life, it might convert to anxiety.
Anxiety often motivates people with ADD, because when time’s running out on a project or task we must get done by a specific hour or date, our adrenal glands secrete and flood our system with adrenaline in response to feeling anxious we’ll miss our deadline.
An adrenaline surge in the body is like high-octane fuel for the brain. It helps us push through all our resistance and procrastination and handle whatever we need to, extremely well.
